Some official PDFs retain older session labels in parts of their text. These files are linked from CBSE’s 2026–27 curriculum index. If a label causes uncertainty, check the current index and ask your school to confirm the applicable document.
Check your exact subject combination
“Commerce” helps describe a group of subjects; it does not mean every student’s subject combination is identical. Mathematics and Applied Mathematics are separate subjects. English Core and English Elective are also separate. This page links English Core; English Elective students should select their course from the official curriculum index.
For Accountancy, confirm your school’s Part B route before collecting material. The syllabus includes a choice between Financial Statement Analysis and Computerised Accounting. Studying the wrong option can waste limited preparation time. Check the official Accountancy syllabus and your school’s instructions.
Syllabus, sample paper or previous-year paper?
These resources serve different purposes:
- The current syllabus defines the scope to plan against. Start here when deciding what to study.
- A sample question paper illustrates the paper format and question types. Use its accompanying marking scheme to understand how responses are assessed. CBSE publishes the 2026–27 Class XII sample papers and marking schemes.
- A previous-year paper comes from an examination already held. CBSE’s question-paper archive and examination marking-scheme archive are separate resources. Match the subject, year, examination type and paper code when pairing them.
A 2026 examination paper is a past paper. A 2026–27 sample paper is preparation material for the current session; it is not the actual 2027 board paper. Before practising an older question, check whether its topic is in your current syllabus.
For Business Studies practice, open our CBSE Class 12 Business Studies previous-year question-paper guide for official archive links and a focused review method.
Turn the syllabus into a manageable plan
- Confirm your starting point. Write down your subjects, school progress, upcoming assessments and available weekly study time.
- Make one topic checklist per subject. Use three simple labels: “need teaching”, “need practice” and “ready for a timed check”. Reading a chapter once does not automatically establish readiness.
- Try a short diagnostic task. Attempt a few relevant questions without notes. Record where the difficulty appears: understanding the concept, selecting a method, calculations, explanation or timing.
- Plan the next two weeks. Choose a realistic number of topics. Include learning, independent practice and a later retrieval check; leave space for school assignments.
- Keep an error log. Note the question source, what went wrong and one action to correct it. Reattempt the question after a gap rather than only rereading the solution.
- Review with evidence. Compare independent attempts over time and adjust the plan. Parents can ask what the student can now explain or complete, alongside asking which chapters are finished.
